Delay in appeal

THE appeal hearing of a convicted murderer hoping to have his conviction quashed by the Court of Appeal has been adjourned. Shavargo McPhee, 21, of Marsh Harbour, came to the Claughton House courtroom with his attorney Murrio Ducille ready to resume previous discussions that were held last Friday. However, the appellate court judges were not prepared to deal with the matter, as there was not sufficient time. They put the matter down to July 13 at 10am. McPhee was convicted last year for the November 2008 murder of Brendon Dion Strachan in Marsh Harbour, Abaco and sentenced to life in prison. Strachan was a cashier at the family's M&R food store when he was gunned down inside the storeroom. McPhee is appealing on the basis that the judge should have discontinued the case, after a co-defendant was introduced as a Crown witness.
