By RENALDO DORSETT Sports Reporter rdorsett@tribunemedia.net Ashley Moss is known for her rebounding and shot-blocking ability but the defensive minded forward was able to lift the Boomer Gee Angels to a series-tying win on the offensive end. Moss split a pair of free throws to give the Angels the go-ahead score with just three seconds left to play in their 38-37 win over the Four J's Cheetahs at DW Davis gym last night. The Angels led by two with just over 30 seconds left to play before Teranna Pyfrom scored her only basket of the game to tie the game for the Cheetahs at 37. Moss was fouled in a loose ball scramble on the ensuing possession. She finished with six points, 16 rebounds and two blocks. Suzette McKenzie led the Angels with nine points while Sharelle Cash added eight. Linda Pierre led the Cheetahs with seven points and 14 rebounds, Anastacia Moultrie-Sands added six points and 14 rebounds while Latoya Thompson finished with six points and five assists. It was an offensive struggle for both teams as the Angels managed just 22 per cent from the field and Cheetahs shot 20 per cent. The Cheetahs took game one of the best- of-five series 66-54. The Cheetahs advanced to the finals after a 2-1 series win over the Johnson Lady Truckers. In the other half of the bracket, the Angels clinched the championship rematch with a 2-1 series win over the Super Value Cybots Queens. This year's championship is the third edition in what has quickly become the league's most heated rivalry. The Angels claimed the 2010 title in the first championship meeting between the two but were beaten by the Cheetahs in an attempt to repeat in 2011. Both teams won their respective titles in four games in their winning season. Game three is set for 8pm Saturday.
