The best gift of all: Repairing a broken heart

Under the theme, "Repairing a broken Heart...What a Gift", The Heart Ball Committee will host the 48th Annual Heart Ball on Saturday, February 18, at Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort. The event will be held under the patronage of His Excellency Sir Arthur and Lady Foulkes. There will be toe tapping, foot stomping and body rocking performances by The Ed Brice Orchestra, The S-G Band (Soulful Groovers), The Royal Bahamas Defence Force Dance Band and smooth interludes by Gary "Super" Johnson. There will also be the presentation of the Lady Sassoon Golden Heart Award to an individual who has given selflessly to improve the lives of others. "We want current and prospective patrons to know that the time they spend with us, will be time well spent for a most worthy cause. Their donations will help to repair a child's heart, and help to relieve a burden for a family who could not ordinarily afford heart care for that child," said public relations officer Ingrid Sears. "Patrons of the ball can look forward to an exciting and fun-filled evening. There will be little talking as the music plays throughout the evening to keep you dancing, except when awards or prizes are to be given away. The ambiance and environment is a great place to share Valentine's with friends and family, as you enjoy a sumptuous five course meal. At the end of the day, it is really worth it and more, as you help to make a difference in a child's life and hence our society," she said. The Annual Heart Ball is the major fundraising event that aids The Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation, commonly known as The Heart Foundation. The Heart Foundation is a non-profit organisation that helps to repair the hearts of persons in the Bahamas, primarily children. The Foundation relies heavily upon the generosity of others to help repair hearts. Over 97 per cent of the funds raised by The Heart Foundation go directly towards heart care. The Foundation in conjunction with The Bahamas Heart Association aims to proactively educate and inform persons residing in The Bahamas about heart care and how to lead heart healthy lifestyles. The event is sponsored in part by TheBahamasweekly.com, Cable Bahamas, Floral Arts, British Airways, Atlantis, Pictet Bank, Insurance Company of The Bahamas, Atlantic Medical, JCN, More 94, Burns House, G&M Appliances, the Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas, and Bahanime Studios.
