Tree lights go on at police HQ

MUSIC echoed through the air, bringing sounds of great cheer as the Royal Bahamas Police Force celebrated its 11th annual Tree Lighting Ceremony under the theme, "Celebrating the Gift of Life". The moderator for the event was Simone Beneby, who spoke with great eloquence and humour. Performing during the ceremony were: the Royal Bahamas Police Force Pop Band, the Royal Bahamas Police Force Combined Youth Band, the Scotia Bank Symphony, Tribe of Praise from Mt Olive Green Baptist Church, Soldiers of Christ Drama Club from Abundant Life Bible Church, Ms Talented Teen Bahamas Monesha Bowleg, Centreville Primary School Head Girl Shaphira Nottage, and entertainer Terez Hepburn. The guest speaker was Tom Roberts, Pastor of East Street Gospel Chapel. He said: "The true meaning of the season is not in the festivities, but Jesus Christ coming to earth and the gift of life we received through him." In attendance were Commissioner of Police Ellison Greenslade and members of his executive management team, Force Chaplin Father Stephen Davies, Bishop Walter Hanchell, senior officers, family and friends. Following the ceremony, Santa made his usual appearance, giving treats to all in attendance.
