Under-17 women's soccer team qualify for the CONCACAF final

RETURNING home after an historic performance at the CONCACAF qualifying tournament in Kingston, Jamaica, the Bahamas Football Association (BFA) honoured members of the under-17 women's soccer team. At the Roscoe Davies Development Center last Friday, BFA president Anton Sealey presented manager Karen Green, the coaching staff - led by Daria Adderley - and members of the team with a plaque for their third place finish that qualified them for the CONCACAF final. The team defeated Guyana 1-0 and will join Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica in the final that is slated to be held May 2-13, 2012 in Guatemala where they will play against host country Mexico, USA, Canada and the Central American playoff winner between Costa Rica and Panama. During the qualifying tournament, the Bahamas lost its first two matches to host Jamaica 2-0 and 3-0 to Trinidad and Tobago at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in Kingston. However, the Bahamas blanked Guyana 1-0 as 14-year-old attacker Keisha McCartney scored in the 43rd minute.
