JACK Knowles, of LW Young Junior High School, is the winner of the 2012 New Providence Junior Young Chef Championship.

The 14-year-old grade nine student earned a combined 528 points with his "Mahatma Island" and "Spicy Caribbean Delight" - which also won the Best Robin Hood Flour award.

Gerline Forest of Anatol Rodgers High School won the "Best Mahatma Rice" award.

Jack impressed chefs Ron Johnson of Savory Art, and Jonael Phillipe and Richmond Fowler of the Lyford Cay Club. The first-time judges all agreed that his dishes were "tasty with great choice of ingredients and well executed".
