TWO police officers were charged yesterday in connection with the hospitalisation of a man they allegedly pushed out of a moving police car two months ago.

Corporal Charles Antoine, 47, and Constable Eddison Nairn, 45, stood before Deputy Chief Magistrate Carolita Bethell facing a charge of grievous harm.

It is claimed the offence occurred on February 18. Maurice Armstrong was the victim.

Armstrong was reportedly arrested and beaten by two police officers on the day in question.

After the beating, he was put in a police car and thrown out of the moving vehicle shortly afterward.

Cpl Antoine and Const Nairn are charged as the officers responsible. Both men denied the accusation and pleaded not guilty to the charge. They were each granted $5,000 bail with a surety and will return to court for trial on June 22.
