Smith released a chain message via Black Berry Messenger to supporters last week after ending his working relationship. He had provided Mario's Bowling with Karaoke services since 2010, and his regular Tuesday night gig drew a loyal following that regularly filled the venue.

The entertainer alleged, he was accused by management of attracting "too much low end, broke, gay, and junglists people".

"They say they are tired of seeing junglists in their building. Great people build people. I will not support anyone who breaks down who people are in no way...The last time I check money was not prejudice," said Mr Smith, who is no stranger to controversy.

In an extended Facebook post, Mario's Bowling refuted the claims made by Smith.

"As of recent many of our customers have been misguided about who we are and what we stand for. We do not discriminate against anyone that walks through our doors and our customers with whom we appreciate always come first. For two years, persons have walked through our doors, enjoyed Demetrius' show and our services. We do not discriminate, never have and never will," the post stated.

Mario's Bowling claimed Smith left because they refused to increase his salary. Smith's starting salary in April 2010 was $350 per show for two hours. It was increased within six months to $650 weekly per show for two hours. Smith then requested more money. Mario's claimed it agreed to $950 every Tuesday for two hours, but nothing more.

The statement said Mario's was responsible for all of the other expenses related to the event, including dancers, deejays and give-aways.

"Greed took over and his demands increased. We were not in a position to increase his salary, which was already at $950 for a two hour show, so he decided to jump ship on us in an attempt to hold us hostage."

"Mario's Bowling and Family Entertainment Palace does not have an outstanding balance for Mr Demetrius Smith. He was paid in full every Tuesday night, after his karokee performance at Mario's", the post stated.

Since the fallout Mario's said it received some backlash, including offensive statements.

For now, the 'Karaoke King' will make Club Charlie's his new performance venue.

Mario's is pushing forward with a weekly Tuesday night event, starting April 26, called 'Lights, Camera, Action', featuring Selecta Jimbo, SME and guest DJs. Music will also be presented by the Mighty Pen.

"The show will go on and we appreciate your continued support," said Mario's.
