From feelings to faith

THE sun was so bright that it peeked through the blinds that hanged from the window. A brand new day had emerged and it had so many possibilities. The beauty of the day was so forceful it could not be ignored.

So many thoughts of things that I could do started to rush my mind. Breakfast at the buffet and then a walk on the beach. Something in me kicked and I checked my phone to see what day it was.

My reality hit, it was Sunday. Which meant that it was church day. But I don't feel like going to church today, I said aloud, as if I had an audience. Nevertheless, regardless of my emotion at the time I went through my process, preparing myself for service.

Driving to church the streets was unbelievably clear from traffic and the air was calm. I though, hmm what a smooth ride. The feeling of not wanting to be there was still alive. I walked up to the door only to have a gentlemen from behind rush to open the door for me. Thank you, I said with a smile. Not completely convinced that being in church was a good idea I kept an open mind.

As the service proceeded I progressively began to change my mind. The welcome and fellowship was especially nice. There were so many visitors and they seemed to be very friendly people. The service got to the point that I am usually most motivated by. The sermon spoke volumes to me, and did not disappoint.

It spoke about the exact thing I was feeling: Not wanting to go to church. Regardless of how I felt God came through with an awesome word.

I'm glad that God is not moved by how we feel. He loves us even when we don't feel or realise his love for us. We have to move from feelings to faith, that in spite of how the situation, circumstance is and what is happening in my life, God has a plan and he is faithful.

We have to let our faith supersede our emotions. Someone once told me that a woman should never dress the way she feels. On a daily basis we go through so many emotions that any that buck up will go.

If the lord promises you something or you are praying about something, don't worry about the time, just be assured that he is true to his word and he will do what he says he will.

When it comes to our heart's desire, if they are in accordance to his will for our lives we will get what we ask for.

Our relationship with God can't be based on our feelings. We have to know without any doubt he is our lord and saviour and he will always come through for us.
