Chris Brown and Demetrius Pinder ran valiantly in the men's 400m Olympic final, but there was to be no Bahamian athlete on the medal podium in London last night.
Brown finished fourth in 44.79 and Pinder was seventh with 44.98 in a tightly contested race.
Both runners were well in the race up until the final straight.
Kirani James of Grenada was first in 43.94, Luguelin Santos second in 44.46 and Lalonde Gordon took bronze with 44.52.
Afterwards, a disappointed Chris Brown said he was hoping for an individual medal. "I brought my game, but everybody else brought their game," he said.
Pinder said he "just wanted a medal."
There was better news for Team Bahamas earlier in the day when Anthonique Strachan finished second in her heat to qualify for the 200m semifinals. Strachan's time of 22.75 will see her compete for a final place on Tuesday.
Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie, running in Heat 2, failed to qualify with a time of 23.49.
And in the women's 100m hurdles, Ivanique Kemp finished third in Heat 2 in 13.51 to qualify.
