A MEMBER of the Auditor General’s team died while on a to a trip to New York three weeks ago, the Tribune has learned.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Fred Mitchell confirmed the death of the employee, who has been identified as Leah Ferguson.

Mr Mitchell said she was with a delegation from the Auditors General’s Office that left Washington and went to New York to audit the government agencies there.

“When she didn’t show up for work, they went to her hotel room and when she didn’t answer and employee from the hotel opened the door and she was discovered dead,” he said.

While Mr Mitchell said he is not sure the exact cause of Ms Ferguson’s death, sources say she died from a aneurysm.

Calls to the Auditor General were not returned up to press time.
