A 27-year-old Carmichael Road man is being questioned by police after a number of suspected stolen items were discovered.
Police say shortly after 8pm, officers from the Southwestern Division, acting on a tip, detained the man and confiscated a number of goods. Supt Stephen Dean said that while he police still don’t know if the incidents are related, he believes more than 50 per cent of the recent armed robberies could have been prevented.
“Police are still running the information through the system and we should know in a few days if these armed robberies are related,” he said.
“Right now these armed robberies are our main focus.”
• Police have said a man injured in a shooting on Monday was not involved in an armed robbery, but was instead injured in
a dispute between two men. The incident took place on Ramsey Street on Carmichael Road at about 1am.
