Calling it a new approach to film, Jarrod said the unique mixture of the two genres will give audiences a roller coaster time.

Jarrod said his love for film-making all started with a script he wrote as a freshman in College. One day, he said he decided to turn the words on the page, into moving pictures. He said he could not sleep well at night, until the story was told, and the vision realized.

“I hosted a casting call, secured a familiar location, hustled together some resources, and thus began my journey into the film world. Having never attended film school, I was driven, simply by my vision and I thrived off of the enthusiasm and knowledge of the cast and crew. This experience taught me so much. More, than any school, could ever teach me. Experience, my friends, are indeed, the greatest teachers,” said Jarrod.

Giving Tribune Entertainment a brief on the new film “What Lies Beyond, The Beginning,” Jarrod said it all starts off good and happy and then it gets dark.

In the storyline, after a year has passed, the Collegiate Ecosystem Association grants another research opportunity, but this time, not for money. Several college students decide to take part, given increased security, and the presence of a witty chaperon. A normal day once again ends in a killing spree and these potential victims must decide whether to fight for their lives or fight to escape. Will there be any survivors left to tell the tale?

Even though the movie is shot overseas for the most part, Jarrod and his film crew flew over to the Bahamas on the weekend to shoot a highly anticipated scene.

According to Jarrod, this particular scene is extremely interesting but due to inclement weather over the duration of the weekend, things did not work out as planned, which was for the shoot to be done on a beach at Paradise Island. However, he said the cast and crew had to be creative and improvise in order to get the scene done and make the best of their situation.

When asked if he thought his vision for this particular scene was still accomplished, he added: “I would say that my vision was realized to a certain extent. As far as the aura of the scene and the actors performances, my vision was very much realized. However, I did wish that I could have made use of the beautiful outdoor scenery in the Bahamas. The weather did not allow for this.”

Moving the scene indoors, Jarrod said this definitely made the scene more exotic and unique. “We were also able to get some shots which made it obvious, that the scene was set in the Bahamas, as this was our primary mission.”

Jarrod said “What Lies Beyond, The Beginning,” should be completed by March of next year. However, as far as a release date, he is not sure yet. “Hopefully sooner, rather than later,” he said.

He said persons can look forward to a diverse cast, a unique twist that has never been done before, side-splitting humor, intense action, drama, and gore, and an original story.

“It’s a twist, so sick, you’ll never recover. This film will change American cinema forever, because of its approach to the genres of horror and comedy. I took the time to do research and ensure that it directly combats the typical clichs in horror films, like a cast of just one particular ethnicity, the black guy dying first or second and the characters having no cell phone reception,” said Jarrod.

He said this is a film that has something to offer in every single scene. Each minute of the film, evoking and appealing to a certain type of emotion.

“Regardless of age, race, or gender, something will make this film worth the watch for you, guaranteed,” he said.
