Armed robbery suspect bailed

A MILLENNIUM Gardens man has been granted bail ahead of his $54,000 armed robbery trial.

Timothy Rolle, 23, appeared before Justice Bernard Turner yesterday and was given a bond of $25,000 on conditions that he had two sureties, report to the nearest police station two days a week, surrendered travel documents and did not leave the jurisdiction.

Rolle is awaiting trial in connection with an armed robbery where a man was robbed of his car, watch, cell phone and cash on Monday, October 10, 2011.

The prosecution alleges that Rolle, while armed with a handgun, robbed Antonne Brooks of his white Mercedes-Benz, his BlackBerry phone and $2,700 cash.

The car is said to be worth $41,000 while the phone and watch are reportedly valued at $4,790 and $9,800.

Together, the stolen goods are valued at $54,290.
Deputy Chief Magistrate Bethell told the accused at the time of his arraignment that he was not allowed to enter a plea to the charge and was ineligible for bail.

Yesterday, nine months since his arraignment, he received bail.
