A 30-year-old man is calling on the Princess Margaret Hospital to explain why he was discharged from the Male Surgical Ward after complaining of “inadequate” service yesterday morning.
Tamario Hepburn said after making his complaint, he was told by medical officials that he was “well enough” to go home and was discharged immediately – despite not being in any condition to leave.
Having been in the hospital since Saturday with two fractured arms following a brawl with another man, Mr Hepburn said he underwent surgery that day and has been on the Male Surgical Ward One for the past three days.
When he visited The Tribune yesterday, Mr Hepburn still had a tube with blood draining into it attached to him.
He told a reporter: “I am in no condition to out of the hospital, mister. I’m still in a lot of pain.
“When I was in the hospital they just threw my drip bag on the floor. I asked them who was supposed to be treating me and no one would answer you, so I went and complained.
“The next thing I know, they telling me I have to get out.
“That’s when I told them I was going to The Tribune.”
Public Hospital Authority officials were contacted, but did not issue a response to the claims before press time last night.

Why can't the minister in charge of this sector direct this individual to Doctors Hospital to see if he is physically fit to be out of hospital. Then if not use money from the government to pay for this man medical bill and in return put the staff on duty at that time in court to compensate the government for not doing what they are paid for. Again every official will drag their foot until a life is loss. A hospital could be suggested to build when a woman lost her life during the storm but lets see how this easy situation cannot be solved. Or if the gentleman was fit for discharge, he then just be accountable for the medical evaluation by Doctors Hospital seeing that it was his concern the service was done.

People need to treat each other as they would expect to be treated. I feel bad for him. Who is going to help him? Is there an authority at the hospital whom can look into what happened to him? Is there an authority outside the hospital that can investigate his treatment? I hope there is. The deaths a few months ago caused by bacteria of some sort has never been solved and the ladies newborn that died even though taken to hospital healthy. Terrible, disgusting practice by our hospital.

Well blow me down! This can't be true. The fella has a fluid drain bag and IV line still attached to his arm and they kicked the brother out for calling them out of their slackness. WOW!! Welcome to the Bahamas. But I mommy always say, "today for you - tomorrow for me". This is not right and someone must be held accountable.
