Stingrays get 18-14 win over Pros, improve record to 5-0

Jamaal Storr continued his dominance in the Commonwealth American Football League this season, accounting for each of the Campbell’s/V8 Fusion Stingrays touchdowns yesterday as the defending champions remained undefeated.

Storr ran for two scores and caught another in the Stingrays 18-14 win over the Orry J Sands Pros.

Storr scored on the Stingrays’ first play from scrimmage with a 60-yard run.

The Stingrays went up 12-0 early in the second when backup quarterback Eldrith Smith connected with Storr for a touchdown pass in the redzone.

The Pros would respond with a timely punt return by Ashley Roberts, and a drive finished with a short yardage run from Charles Edwards.

Roberts ran in the two point conversion to trim the deficit 12-8 headed into the half.

Edwards would put the Pros ahead with a late third quarter touchdown run, 14-12.

Storr scored his second rushing touchdown of the game to put the Pros ahead midway through the fourth, 18-14.

The Stingrays defense would manufacture two late game goal line stands to stop the Pros twice on fourth down to seal the win.

The Stingrays improved to 5-0 with their second win over the Pros this season, who fell to 2-2.
