MINISTER for Grand Bahama Dr Michael Darville saluted the winners of the Miss Highs Abrave Beauty and Brains Pageant 2012.

The competition was in three classes: Little Miss, Medi Miss and Ulti Miss.

Younique Farquharson, a six-year-old Grade 2 student from St Paul’s Methodist College captured the Little Miss crown.

Nichana Miller, of St Mary Patricia, secured the Medi Miss High Abrave title and 14-year-old Rebecca Mader, a ninth grade student from Tabernacle Baptist Christian Academy, walked off with the Ulti Miss crown.

The competition began five years ago with contestants representing a broad spectrum of talented young women.

Pageant founder Bethsheba Russell said the event was a stepping stone for young women to enhance their self-esteem and prepare them for their future career paths.

Contestants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better.

The event was held on December 16 in the Grand Bahama Room of Our Lucaya Resort.
