JAZZ AT Jacaranda closed out the year with a festive evening of swinging Jazz and popular holiday tunes, presented to a packed house this past Friday at the historic Jacaranda House.

The energetic line up of familiar local musicians and vocalists was expanded to include young, fresh talent and newcomers to the Jazz scene, who blew the crowd away.

Organisers say the high energy, sold out event attracted Jazz lovers of all ages who swung to the sounds of the ViceVersa Band, under the leadership of Pianist Clinton Crawford.

The Jazz at Jacaranda series has been running for the past six months. It has become a popular Sunday venue for those who appreciate wholesome music and great company.

One Jazz at Jacaranda attendee told Tribune Entertainment she has been attending the series for a few weeks now and has enjoyed everyone.

“I am a lover of Jazz and I was totally blown away. The mood was just so settled and calm, my family and I had a great time. Can’t wait for the next one,” she said.

Another patron said: “When the band started, I was on my feet because this is my kind of thing. I think a Jazz show is the perfect party idea to attend this season. My hat goes off to everyone who performed and took part in the show last weekend.”

Coordinator of the event Naomi Taylor said the overwhelming response speaks to the artistic void and public yearning for something more and something “out of the norm”.

“The Jazz at Jacaranda series was intended to provide an outlet for both Jazz musicians and Jazz enthusiasts, and the event has certainly accomplished this objective. Many weeks we stretch in order to include the many talented musicians who come out to share their talent during the two hour poolside concert, creating a musical experience that has often been described as delightful and inspiring,” said Ms Taylor.

The monthly event will reconvene on Sunday, January 6, 2013.
