“Confused men”, this is the way in which the present Prime Minister, Perry Christie and the PLP would have you view Dr. Hubert Minnis, Mr. Charles Maynard and Dion Foulkes and why would they view them in this way? Simply for trying to preserve the rights of Bahamians. We all know that workers are being let go or not having their contracts renewed from the Urban Renewal programme by the PLP. These workers, for some strange reason all seem to be FNM supporters but yet the PLP would have us believe that is not a case of victimization but yet call persons in the FNM “confused.” They go on to say that these persons would not have the best interest of the programme in mind in the way that the PLP has revamped it and re-introduced it as urban Renewal 2.0, this within itself says that these persons have been let go for political reasons but yet the PLP still fervently deny these claims and go on to call persons in the FNM confused. Never mind the fact that the PLP claimed that the programme was cancelled under the FNM administration and did not exist but now are saying that they did not mean that but what they meant was that it was cancelled, “watered down” and then reintroduced but yet call members of the FNM “wrong and confused', the whole matter would be laughable if persons’ lives did not hang in the balance, making this a very serious matter, one that the Prime Minister needs to address right away.

In a state of confusion, the PLP has begun with the campaign that Dr. Minnis has not come to accept that the FNM did not win the election. This is first brought up in rebuttal to Dr. Minnis's maiden speech as the leader of the FNM at the FNM's convention. It seems to me that the PLP has not fully realized that they are the governing party and what the good doctor is doing is what any leader of the opposition would/should do and that is keep pressure on the opposition to fulfil its mandate and make sure that they are fair to the people that elected them as they do so, the people that they claim to believe in.

What I have found even more amazing is the statement made by the PLP wherein they do not seem to fully grasp the concept of a democracy, “The PLP is intolerant of lectures from the FNM…and if they…believe that they can tell the government how to execute its policies, they are men most confused.”

Sirs, the FNM is not telling you how to execute your policies only keeping on you as to being fair when executing said policies. If in a democratic society the opposition is to have no say in the way in which the government is run (remember that they are elected officials as yourselves and they are a part of the governing body) then I would say that someone is really confused.

Remember and I will state this clearly to avoid any confusion, for a democratic system to function properly there has to be an opposition; checks and balances, without an opposition you then have a one party system and begin to border on Socialism and/or Communism or maybe this is what you would desire.
