THE attempted murder trial of a man accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend at a traffic light on the eve of Valentine’s Day last year resumes today in Supreme Court.

Yesterday, the nine member jury selected to hear the evidence was absent from the courtroom as counsel and Justice Roy Jones held private discussions concerning the accused, 26-year-old Devon Adderley.

Adderley, of Mermaid Boulevard, is facing a charge of attempted murder.

It is claimed that on Sunday, February 13, 2011, he tried to murder Lashan Smith at the corner of Jerome Avenue and Chesapeake Road.

The private discussions began on Tuesday afternoon, and yesterday, Justice Jones told the jury they should return today at 10am for the continuation of the trial.

The jury has so far heard several witnesses, including a police corporal who told the court he and a colleague stopped at a traffic light and saw what appeared to be a woman in her car being repeatedly hit by a man outside the vehicle.
