'Die' Stubbs writes to The Tribune

IN AN effort to show he is not the "hardened criminal that police have made him out to be", the family of Stephen "Die" Stubbs delivered a hand-written press statement to The Tribune - allegedly penned by Stubbs himself.

The Tribune has omitted some parts of the statement to ensure it does not affect any ongoing court proceedings.

Claiming he was beaten while in custody, the statement reads: "It's amazing when a person could be victimize by police officers with personal issues towards me (Stephen Stubbs). I try and do my best to stay out of the system's hands on the count of mother I was at peace.

"Because of a incompetent police force were people in society suppose to respect, they fail to keep the people safe with a crime free society. They put the blame on me Stephen Stubbs for every crime that happen in the Bahamas. Its of utmost (importance) to get the whole system on their side to look at me like (a menace to society) but God knows my heart and my destiny.

"I hope society see I was in custody from Wednesday to Monday how much crime gone down during that space of time, plenty. It brings shame on the Commissioner to hold up my picture wanted on TV and every newspaper . . . I will advise my lawyer to file a suit against the Commissioner of Police."
