THE Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) has announced that Reece Chipman and Zelma Wilson have been appointed members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean's (ICAC) regional committees.

Mr Chipman is currently a director on ICAC's Board of Directors, and will be representing BICA on the ICAC Regional Taxation Committee. Ms Wilson currently serves as alternate director of ICAC, and will now be on the ICAC Regional Publicity Committee.

The ICAC Regional Taxation Committee's main objectives are to review, consider, prepare and present recommendations to the ICAC Board of Directors on matters of taxation and fiscal policies relevant to the regional accountancy profession.

The ICAC Regional Publicity Committee's directives are to contribute towards the enhancement of ICAC's image, foster effective information exchange between ICAC's regional member institutes, and assist with increasing the awareness of ICAC's role, responsibilities and accomplishments.

ICAC is an internationally recognised body for the accountancy profession in the Caribbean, with an expanding influence in the region. It regulates the profession, and promotes the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct.

Through leadership and the provision of research, continuing professional development and other services, it adds value to its members and the wider community.

BICA is the regulatory body for the accounting profession in the Bahamas. It has more than 500 members and 280 licensees.
