MOVING from the court to the administrative level -for now - has been a seamless transition for one Bahamian collegiate basketball player.

Jay Philippe has been named as the new graduate assistant for the Sports Information Department at Webber International University after recently completing his playing career for the Warriors this spring.

Philippe graduated from Sunland Baptist Academy in 2006. He graduated from high school with honours. He then signed a letter of intent to attend Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Virginia.

Philippe later transferred to Seminole Community College in Sanford, Florida, during his sophomore year and this is where he earned his associate of arts degree in marketing in 2009.

Philippe later enrolled at Webber International University in the spring of 2010 where he played his final two seasons of basketball at WIU.

He graduated in May 2012 with a bachelor of science degree in hospitality and tourism management while minoring in sport management.

Philippe graduated with honours, maintaining a 3.50 grade point average, placing him on The Dean's List.

Currently, Philippe is in the MBA programme, pursuing his master's degree in management.

The 5'10" senior point guard averaged 6.2 points and 3.4 assists per game in his final year.

He was also given the "Warrior" award by the coaching staff for his leadership displayed over the course of the season.

During his career, Philippe has been honoured for his work on the court and in the classroom by twice being named an NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete.
