ONCE again showing his commitment to the youth of our country, coach Norris Bain watched one of his basketball players commit to furthering his career in sports and education.

Garth Brown, a former student of Tabernacle Baptist Christian Academy, home of the mighty Falcons, signed a letter of intent with Lamar State College in Port Arthur, Texas.

Port Arthur is home to Oklahoma City Thunder's power forward Kendrick Perkins and Steven Jackson of the San Antonio Spurs.

Bain said that this is an opportunity for a young Bahamian to be empowered.

During a press conference, he urged Garth Brown to be focused and to make his family, country and the students of Tabernacle Baptist Christian Academy proud.

He encouraged Garth to go and get his education, pursue his dreams in basketball and to one day come back and give back to the young people of the Bahamas.

Bain thanked coach Lance Madison, head coach at the Lamar State College, for giving Garth Brown this opportunity.

And he believes that Garth will be pivotal in leading the Lamar State College Basketball team to conference championships and many national junior college athletic association appearances.
