FREEPORT - Bahamian and US drug agents made a huge marijuana discovery in East Grand Bahama over the weekend.
According to police reports, several fields were discovered during a routine patrol in the pine forest off Grand Bahama Highway on Friday.
Asst Supt Loretta Mackey, press liaison officer, reported that approximately 30 plots, averaging in size about 50 x 50ft, were uncovered a few miles east of High Rock.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Emrick Seymour and a team of officers, including US Drug Enforcement Administration officers, returned to the area on Saturday to continue their investigation.
The marijuana plants - which range from one to 11ft in height - were all uprooted. The street value of the drugs is not yet known.
Although no arrest was made, ASP Mackey said investigations are continuing and police are following several leads.

How is it that every time one of these marijuana fields are discovered no one is ever caught, arrested and charged for the fields. Someone has to be tending to the crops. Just sit and wait a day. They come every single day.
