Stabbing victim dies in hospital, man shot in groin

AN ARGUMENT over a woman turned fatal as a man was stabbed off Wulff Road and died of his injuries in hospital shortly afterwards.

The stabbing took place around 6.30pm yesterday evening at Union Village.

The victim, Javaughn Samuels, 22, got into an argument with another man over a woman.

A man left the area and returned shortly afterwards when the stabbing occurred.

A suspect who also suffered wounds is in hospital and under police custody.

A 22-YEAR-OLD man is fighting for his life in hospital after being shot in the groin on Sunday night.

Police say the victim, a resident of Montell Heights, was shot in Ida Street at around 8.35pm and taken to hospital by a private vehicle where he was last night listed in critical condition.

Police are still uncertain of the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are appealing to members of the public who may have any information that can assist police with their investigations to contact police at 323-0853, 323-0854, 322-3816 or the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991.

Meanwhile, police have one man in custody assisting them with their investigations in connection with the murder of 18-year-old Joshua Rolle.

Rolle was shot and killed around 8pm on Saturday in the area of Quakoo Street between Market and East streets.

Police are also uncertain of the circumstances surrounding this shooting but sources say Rolle was shot during a gambling argument.

He became the country's 67th murder victim.

In a separate operation, traffic division officers conducted operation, 'Summer Breeze' on Sir Milo Butler Highway on Sunday. The operation was held between 5pm and 7.15pm and resulted in 56 drivers being cited for various traffic infractions.

Forty-nine drivers were cited for speeding and fined $100. Four individuals were cited for driving while not having their seatbelts fastened and fined $100.

Two drivers were cited for dark tinted windows and fined $75.

Additionally, one driver was cited for an unlicensed vehicle contrary to and fined $250.
