Atkinson's century helps Westerns to 50-run victory over St George

AN unbeaten 100 from Wycliff Atkinson highlighted the latest round of matches in the Bahamas Cricket Association (BCA) 20/20 tournament at Windsor Park over the weekend.

Atkinson's century helped Westerns to a 50-run victory over St George on Sunday when St Agnes also beat the Bahamas Union of Teachers (BUT) by six wickets with John Dolphin hitting a half-century.

Also turning in an outstanding performance was Narendra Ekanayake who claimed four wickets for eight runs in Dynasty Stars' eight wicket demolition of Police Royals on Saturday.

On Sunday, Atkinson's knock helped Westerns to a massive 252 for five from their allotted 20 overs. He was well supported by Mahesh Leroy who made 41.

For St George, Orlando Stuart claimed two wickets for 32 runs and Kapry Kemp two for 47. St George made a brave attempt to chase down the target but only managed 202 for five in the end.

Stuart led the way with 45, while Kemp made 42 and Cody Deane 41. Andrew Nash was Westerns' most successful bowler with two for 20.

Earlier on Sunday, BUT was dismissed for 113 in 17.1 overs. Katon Spencer led the way with 41 while Earl Thomas claimed three wickets for four runs and Errol Constantine three for 28.

St Agnes replied with 115 for four in 16 overs of which Dolphin made 51. Garth Davis claimed two for 22.

Saturday's game saw Dynasty Stars dismissing Police Royals for 49 in 14.5 overs. The only batsman to reach double figures was Rudolph Fox who made 13 as Ekanayake proved unplayable during his four overs.

Brent Fullerton supported with two for 19. Dynasty Stars replied with 54 for 2 in 5.1 overs. Renford Davson made 16 and Ryan Tappin 15 not out, while Marc Taylor claimed two for nine.

The competition continues at the same venue this weekend.
