AT this point in 2011, the murder count stood at 34 for the year, according to Supt Stephen Dean.
He was responding to an article in Monday's Tribune that claimed that with the 27th murder for the year, 2012 had become more deadly than 2011.
Supt Dean explained that while the article may have reflected the count reported at the time, several homicides in early 2011 were subsequently reclassified as murders, for an official total of 34 by the last week of March, 2011.
