OVERMATCHED against a pair of global soccer powerhouses, the Bahamas was eliminated from the CONCACAF Under-17 Women's Championship.

Team Bahamas fell 6-0 to Mexico Saturday night in their second game of the tournament, after a 10-0 loss to the United States on Thursday.

The Bahamas will have one more opportunity for a win when they face Trinidad and Tobago - the match is set for 3pm today.

In the previous matchup (regional qualifying) between the two back in December, the Bahamas lost 3-0.

With the win, Mexico got into the semifinals of the tournament.

Kennadi Green nearly broke the two-game scoreless streak for the Bahamas in the 18th minute when she freely ran into a long ball. However, her cross was saved just a foot away from the goal line.

Mexico made nine lineup changes following a narrow 2-0 after an opening win over Trinidad and Tobago. They scored the first of their six goals just minutes into the match against the Bahamas.

Mariana Cadena and Jessica Morales scored two goals each and Vivian Vega had another in the first half.

Despite the score, Mexico remained six points behind the US in Group B on goal difference. The Mexicans and the US advanced to the knockout round set for next Thursday. The two will square off today to decide the group title and semifinal seeding.

The loss eliminated the Bahamas in their CONCACAF championship premier at any level.

Trailing 5-0 at the half, Bahamas' Sheryl Evans replaced Cori Strachan at goalkeeper despite not seeing action in any of the team's qualifying matches.

Evans gave up a single goal and lifted the team with a number of impressive saves to keep the Mexican attack relatively at bay.

The tournament serves as the final round of qualifying for the World Cup finals that is slated to be held in Azerbaijan in October. The Bahamas needed to be one of the top three finishers in Guatemala to move on.
