A MAN enjoying a "grill and chill" event last week at Ryan Pinder's Elizabeth Estates headquarters told The Tribune yesterday he was stabbed several times over a misunderstanding.

Mr Pinder is the Progressive Liberal Party's (PLP) candidate for the Elizabeth constituency.

The man, who did not want to be identified, said an exchange of pushes inside the headquarters at about 11pm led to a man pulling out a "small sword" and stabbing him in the head.

According to the man, he was then jumped by several other individuals who pelted him with bottles.

"I just did get something to drink and after I get something to drink I was clowning with one or two people," he said.

"I was standing by the door when a Rasta guy came inside there and he pushed his way through and he bumped me and whoever else was on the other side, so I tell him, relax.

"He pushed me and I pushed him, then he pulled out a fancy sword-type knife, snatch me by my throat and chapped me two or three times in the back of my head.

"I end up defending myself and after that they ganged me inside the yard. They socked me up and burst me with a couple bottles and thing," he said.

A concerned citizen, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said several stabbing incidents have occurred near Mr Pinder's constituency office, which he blamed on alcohol consumption.

Mr Pinder told The Tribune yesterday that he had only heard of stabbing incidents that occurred several houses down from his headquarters.

The victim said Mr Pinder was not at the headquarters when he was assaulted, and was probably not told about the incident as it was not reported to police.

"We just let it dead just like that," he said.
