Sunflower Day Exhibition and Concert

When: Saturday, May 12 @ 7.30pm

Where: The Dundas Theatre

The Sunflower organisation has set aside May 12 as Sunflower Day, the day to remember the lives of individuals that have passed away. This year the organisation will celebrate the life of the late Jackson Burnside architect, artist, and cultural icon. There will be entertainment at the Dundas Theatre with an exhibition and two-hour concert of music, song, art, dance, photography, film and literature. Sidney Poitier will also give a tribute. There will also be a Junkanoo rush out in Mr Jackson's honour.

"Sudden Onset" Short Film

When: May 10

Where: College of the Bahamas

The short film, "Sudden Onset" will be displayed at the College of the Bahamas on May 10. The film features Bahamian talent which will enlighten viewers about the disease multiple sclerosis. The film premiers at Harry C. Moore Library, COB at 6pm. The guest speaker will be Dr Charles Rahming and host Jerome Sawyer. An educational forum will follow the showing of the film. Nurturing Brotherhood Opening Reception

When: May 18

Where: The Public Treasury

The Public Treasury Art Program (PTAP) announced the names of the seventeen Bahamian male artists who have been mentoring high school students over the past few weeks in preparation for its five-month exhibition, Nurturing Brotherhood. The Public Treasury invites the general public to the opening reception on May18 where each artist will showcase their work alongside their student.

T Connection Reloaded 2012 Concert

When: May 18-19

Where: Crystal Palace Ballroom

The Bahamian funk and disco group will performing at the Crystal Palace Ballroom, Nassau Wyndham Resort on May 18-19. Part proceeds will aid the Children's Emergency Hostel. For more information call 565-9939.

Cancer Society: 11th Annual Ball

When: May 19

Where: Sheraton Nassau Resort

Under the theme "Fiesta: A Spirit of Survival", the Cancer Society will host its annual Ball at Sheraton Nassau Resort, Cable Beach on May 19. Cocktails start at 7pm and dinner starts at 8pm. For more information: 302-4923.

Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise: Jazz By The Water
