Long Island Member of Parliament-elect Loretta Butler-Turner confirmed that the party will have four seats in the upper chamber, but said that it is still unclear as to who will make the final decision if the list will include party stalwarts or new faces.

"We will be meeting on that soon to make a determination," she said.

Some political analysts suggest that the Senate appointments would be an ideal opportunity to begin presenting the image of the 'new FNM' and said it may be political suicide to appoint former FNM bigwigs like Carl Bethel, Tommy Turnquest or Dion Foulkes.

Prior to last Monday's General Election, Mr Foulkes served as government leader in the Senate and Mr Turnquest served in that position when the FNM lost the 2002 election when he was party leader.

"I would like to see them appoint four young dynamic people who can begin to lay the foundation for 2017.

"I think it would be a mistake to put some of the same old boys back in, they need to focus on who can help them win the government in five years, not reward those who helped them lose the government this year," said one political observer.

Some names The Tribune has heard being proposed include: Cassius Stuart, Heather Hunt, Howard Johnson, Desmond Bannister, Zhivargo Laing, and Pakeisha Parker Edgecombe.
