A MAN was arraigned in Magistrates Court yesterday in connection with a recent murder.

Scott Porter, 28, of Andros Avenue, stood handcuffed and shackled before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez to be formally charged.

It is claimed that on Saturday, May 19, Porter stabbed and killed Jeremiah Williams.

Williams was killed after being was chased, shortly after leaving a bar on Independence Drive.

Porter was not required to enter a plea to the charge. He was denied bail and remanded to prison until the completion of his trial.

He will return to Magistrate's Court on September 20, when the prosecution will present a Voluntary Bill of Indictment.

The Bill will forward the matter directly to Supreme Court for trial, skipping a lengthy pre-trial in the lower court.

Porter has retained attorney Jomo Campbell to represent him.
