A LAWYER yesterday denied involvement in a fraud in which it is claimed that he and others were in possession of fake property papers claiming ownership of land owned by a magistrate.

Richard Bootle, 56, of Port Delmer, appearing yesterday morning before Magistrate Guilimina Archer of Court no 10, pleaded not guilty to possession of a forged document, uttering a forged document and forgery.

It is claimed that between November 1 and November 6 this year, he had in his possession, and used a Commonwealth of the Bahamas Indenture of Conveyance from Paul Leander Strachan to Carolina Egypt Strachan knowing the document was not genuine.

It is further claimed that he, concerned with others, forged the land papers.
Court no 5 Magistrate Derence Rolle-Davis is the complainant in the case

Bootle, representing himself, denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty.

He was granted $10,000 bail with a surety and was told that he would stand trial on February 19, 2013.

He was remanded into custody until his bond was signed.

Bootle’s co-accused 54-year-old Paul Leander Collins of Life Bouy Street and 29-year-old Carolina Strachan of Colony Club were not present in court for their arraignment.
They are expected to be arraigned on Wednesday, November 14.
