Three held after find of drugs and bulletproof vest

THREE men are in custody after police discovered a bullet proof vest, a quantity of marijuana and a ski mask.

Police say the men, ages 18, 19 and 46, were detained for questioning around 9.30pm on Friday after officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant on a Blueberry Hill home.

Police also confiscated an imitation firearm along with jewellery, cell phones and ski masks early Saturday morning,

According to reports, officers received information that a family in western New Providence had been robbed at their home by culprits who drove off in a white 1998 Honda Accord.

Officers from the Central Division detained a group of men a short time later at Potters Cay Dock after discovering several suspected stolen items during a search.

Police also report that three Malcolm Road men are in custody following the robbery of a 50-year-old Robinson Road man of an undisclosed amount of money.

The incident reportedly occurred around 11.30pm on Friday.

Police say the victim was at his home when he was approached by three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

In other crime news, police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating two men responsible for robbing a business on the corner of Poinciana Drive and Rupert Dean Lane.

The incident reportedly occurred around 5.40pm on Saturday.

Officers say the men, both of whom were armed with handguns, entered the establishment and demanded cash.

They reportedly robbed the store of money and took a female employee’s handbag which contained cash and an undisclosed amount of cash.
