NATIONAL Security Minister Dr Bernard Nottage yesterday commissioned 30 new patrol cars for the Royal Bahamas Police force at a cost of just over $750,000.

Dr Nottage says the vehicles, which will be split between New Providence and Grand Bahama, will hopefully help decrease crime and the fear of crime.

“These cars will allow us to continue to implement the policy of saturated patrols that we have implemented throughout New Providence, particularly in hot spots. As you know, we are trying to ensure that every neighbourhood, in particular those where there is the greatest incidence of unrest, to have them saturated with police officers, with police cars.

“We have to provide the men and women of the Royal Bahamas Police Force with the capacity to properly monitor these areas,” he said.

“These cars 30 cars which are equipped with the most modern, most up-to-date police tools, they have crash bars, they have locatere, where we can locate the cars wherever they are now.

“So you can’t go home and park the car and say you are on patrol because we can locate them.

“We have a modern radio system, improved lighting and my favourite is the siren. They also have a rack for officers to hold their shotguns in as opposed to on the floor where they used to.

“They have barriers between the front cab, which is where the policemen are, and where many persons arrested might be. They have the protective shield in the windows.

“All of this is designed to improve the safety of the officers and persons who are in custody and of course to protect the public.”

Commissioner of Police Ellison Greenslade said the Bahamas is the first country in the Caribbean to receive these state-of-the-art vehicles.

He said: “Based on our credibility globally, we are privileged to be one of the first jurisdictions and the first jurisdiction in the Caribbean to have these cars. They aren’t available to the market as yet. These are 2013.

“It speaks volumes about the credibility of the Bahamas in international affairs and certainly in the law enforcement arena.”

The decision to allot new patrol cars for the police force can be termed as a positive development in ensuring a proper and law and order situation in the State. The presence of these in hot spots can limit the occurrence of accidents and crimes in a significant manner. http://www.omnitechsupportscam.blogsp...">OmniTech Support Scam

What happened to the old cars that they used until the new fleet was purchased? Is there any option such as http://www.cash-4junkcars.com/">auto salvage Pasadena TX to take them to? They could recover some of the money they spend on the new cars by doing that.

I totally support the government for selecting the patrol cars for the police force as patrol cars has good cubic capacity than diesel cars so that it could be easy to these police people to chase the criminals and catch them easily. I've gained much information about these cars while writing an article related to these fuels on http://aussieessaywriters.org/">essay writers australia and now, I can confidently speak about these issues. Thanks for the share.

These new patrol cars would help strengthen the police force, these cars look really snazzy. However, buying a new car is not enough, you have to keep it in good condition and change its parts after few years. You can find affordable parts online now at places like http://www.indypicapart.com/partprices">www.indypicapart.com/.

This is an investment that has the potential to save lives and that's why we should all agree with it. These cars are crucial for our officers but also for the honest citizens. Now the police officers are more prone to be concerned about the citizen safety instead of being preoccupied with fixing the http://www.gullwingmotor.com/">baler belts. Let's hope we will see investments like that in the future as well.
