Gunshot to head kills victim

A 27-year-old man became the country’s latest murder victim after he was shot in the head on Saturday.

Police say around 9.40am, the victim, who sources identify as Geneo Tynes, was in the area of the wash house on Buttonwood Avenue through Pinewood Gardens with 
another man when they were approached by a man known to both of them.

The suspect shot both men before running off.

Geneo was shot repeatedly and died at the scene. The other man was shot in the upper right arm. He was taken to hospital where he was listed in serious condition.

A shortwhile later police say they arrested a 49-year-old male in the area in connection with the murder. Police also arrested a 19-year-old man after they found him with a handgun.

Police investigations continue.

In a separate case police are asking for the public’s help in locating those responsible for the shooting death of Joshua Sergeant.

The 23-year-old father of one was killed last Wednesday near Junkanoo practice.
Police say Joshua was with a group of friends on Christie Park around 11:30pm when they were approached by three men one of whom was armed with a handgun.

The victim and his friends tried to run but Joshua was shot in the upper right side of his chest. He died at the scene.

Police sources say he was recently released from prison.

The suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Police are appealing to members of the public who may have information to contact them at 911 or 919, crimestoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS or the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991.
