Saturday rally in Abaco

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Someone should answer the latest threats made by the P.M  at his rally on Saturday in Abaco. If the constituents needed any further proof of the party's exclusionary policies then the speech on Saturday was it. The points raised were:

(1)  Any requests made by an Opposition member must be approved by himself. So there is no reason to vote for the Opposition.

Answer: The money in the Public Treasury belongs to the Bahamian people. He is employed by the Bahamian people while he occupies the office which he holds. Abaco contributes its fair share to the Treasury and should not be denied legitimate requests for works when required.

(2) That he looks out for his own, i.e. PLPs.

Answer:  This statement confirms what the Opposition has been alleging all along. Although previously they tried to deny it.

(3) That no matter who they turn to – whether through prayer to God, to the leadership of the Opposition, or anyone else,  ultimately the choice is his to make.

Answer:  It is good that when the FMN was the governing party they did not behave in that manner. Abaco has made tremendous progress through the years, and with the help of God, together with the FMN and the hardworking people of that island, it has accomplished one of the best island economies in The Bahamas. Current government members were so startled by the wonderful progress made that they had to bring all their members to hold  their weekly meeting for no apparent reason, except to enjoy the better than average facilities in Abaco, and, of course, to make a political statement to those unable to see through the scheme. I hope that people in Abaco will see through the smoke screen and treasure that which they have, and do not let anyone talk them out of their fine island.
