Three in hospital after shootings

THREE men remain in hospital after being injured in separate shootings over the weekend.

According to reports, the first incident occurred around 3am on Saturday when a 25-year-old man was shot in the hand and leg at a bar on Bernard Road.

The second incident occurred around 4.40am when 32-year-old Pinewood Gardens resident was attempting to steal a car in the South Beach area and was subsequently shot.

Both men were taken to hospital and are listed in stable condition.

Circumstances surrounding the incident that has left a man hospitalised in serious condition are vague said police.

Initial reports said that police were responding to gunshots in the Boatswain Hill area off Carmichael Road when they discovered a man who had been shot multiple times.

The victim was taken to hospital where he remains in serious condition.

Police said active police investigations continue into all matters.

In other news officers of the K-9 Unit arrested a 23-year-old man from Montel Heights around 11:30 pm on Friday after he was found in possession of an illegal handgun and ammunition in the Lincoln Boulevard and Balfour Avenue area.

Police continue to crack down on traffic violators by carrying out checks throughout New Providence on Friday and Saturday which resulted in 110 drivers being cited for various traffic infractions and six people being arrested.

According to police drivers were arrested for the following infractions: unlicensed vehicle, invalid inspection certificate, driving a vehicle with no front licence plate attached, driving without seatbelt and driving with windows of non-transparent view.
