POLICE are hunting the men responsible for two separate armed robberies.

In the first, a phone card vendor was at Prince Charles Drive and Fox Hill Road around 10am on Sunday when he was approached by two men - once allegedly armed with a high powered weapon.

The duo robbed the vendor of an undetermined amount of cash along with an assortment of phone cards before he fled the area in an unknown direction.

In the second attack, a man entered a Nassau Street business around 1.30pm allegedly armed with a handgun and demanding cash.

He robbed the establishment of an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the area on foot.

Police are investigating and are appealing to members of the public who may have any information to contact them.

In a separate case, shortly after midnight on Sunday, Mobile Division police officers arrested a 39-year-old man after he was found in possession of a quantity of suspected marijuana and a knife.

The man was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Around 3.30am, police reports say, mobile officers arrested a 23-year-old man of 3rd Street off Coconut Grove for causing harm, assault, and damage.

Later that night, Drug Enforcement Unit officers uncovered a firearm and ammunition.

According to police reports, around 7.30pm on Sunday the officers, acting on information, went to Wilson Tract where they observed a man acting suspiciously.

Seeing the officers, the man fled into nearby bushes and evaded police. Police searched the bushes and found a handgun and a quantity of ammunition.

Police also want to inform the public of what to do if they are the victim of a robbery.

Police say: Do not panic, do not resist - objects can be replaced but not a life, obey the robber’s instructions - don’t argue and try to remember exact words which may aid police investigations, be alert, look for distinguishing characteristics - such as scars and tattoos, take note of any weapons used, and get a good description of the robber - compare the robber to your own height and weight to estimate the size of your attacker.

Police also want to help those who are not gainfully employed do not have an active social life, have been deserted by family and/or friends, or are faced with an illness that is incurable. Police ask if you are stressed and it’s unbearable, please talk to someone.
