FREEPORT – Police have discovered that counterfeit notes are in circulation here in Grand Bahama after fake Bahamian $100 currency turned up at several businesses.

Inspector Terecita Pinder, press liaison officer, reported that the counterfeit $100 notes bear the serial number A330535.

The counterfeit notes, she said, were collected from several business places on the island.

“We want the public to be aware that counterfeit notes are reportedly circulating on Grand Bahama,” said Inspector Pinder.

She said police are warning members of the public, particularly business operators, to be vigilant when collecting $100 Bahamian notes.

Persons are asked to contact the police if they receive any of the counterfeit notes.

Inspector Pinder stressed that anyone found to be responsible for the counterfeit notes, or in possession of the illegal notes, will be prosecuted.
