Prize winners show off their awards at the second annual Generations Junior Angler Tournament.

THE SECOND annual Generations Junior Angler Tournament was held in Nassau on September 8 to benefit the Ranfurly Homes for Children.

Organisers say it was a huge success with 28 boats registering and 113 junior anglers competing.

The anglers are divided in two age groups – four to 12 years old and 13 to 17 years old – with a prize for the largest jack, grunt, turbot and snapper for each age group.

There is also a top boat prize for the heaviest combined weight for each species.

“A great time was had by all and at the end of the day it was all about getting families together and taking the kids fishing,” said one organsier.

This year there were 20 children from the Ranfurly Home that fished with families.

The entry fee is only $50 per boat and the children got free T-shirts, bags and hats from Sun Tee.

The weigh-in was held at the Green Parrot at Hurricane Hole Marina, and the establishment also treated the participants to free burgers and hot dogs.

Ben & Jerry’s at the Atlantis Resort set up a tent and served free ice cream and Caribbean bottling providing the soft drinks.

The event was an open invitation tournament – everyone was invited to fish.

“Team Fish head” won the top boat award.
