Mastering the power of the word

IF LIFE and death are in the power of the tongue as the word of God says, Christians possess a divine apparatus that has the ability to manifest good and bad in ones life.

The power of this divine apparatus lies in the words spoken and planted into one’s heart as it is stated in the Isaiah 55:11. “So will the words that come out of my mouth not come back empty-handed. They will do the work I sent them to do, they will complete the assignment I gave them.”

Mankind was made in the image and likeness of God. As the story is told in the book of Genesis, God spoke words and things appeared. If mankind was made like God they too have the power to see the manifestation of the words they speak.

International Tele-evangelist Creflo Dollar, explained that words are “spiritual containers” and will complete the task they are sent out to do.
“Because God’s creative force is within us all, it is so important that we consciously choose the words we speak. Words have consequences. Through what you say, you have the ability to bring to pass either good or bad. In addition, words are spiritual containers that can produce physical things. All they need in order to reproduce is the fertile ground of a believing heart. This works either purposely or not on purpose,” he said.

It is this knowledge of the good and bad that can occur as a result of the spoken word that makes Stacy cautious about what she releases from her mouth. Everyday, she said she practices speaking the word of God, to make sure only Godly things manifest in her life.
“As a believer I have learned to be very sensitive about what I say. I always watch my mouth and I am mindful of the things that I allow to come out of my mouth. The last thing I want is the growth of the word seed that I planted in my heart to be hindered. I want to reap the harvest of the word in my life and nothing else,” she told Tribune Religion.
In times of testing and trials, bearing in mind the impact words can have on the outcome of any situation is also important, Jermaine a born again believer said.

When he went through a time of trial with unemployment and the loss of his assets he continued to meditate on the word of God, and spoke the outcome he wanted to see.
“God said that I will have what I say. So I located the promise in the bible that was relevant to my situation of unemployment. God said that he will supply all of my needs, so the only thing I did was meditate on that scripture and roll it around in my head. That was the reason why the only thing that came out of my mouth was the word.

When people asked me whether or not I found a job, my response was yes because God will supply my needs.
If I spoke negatively during the time I would have never found a job or get my assets back. The words that we speak shows what is in our heart and what we truly believe. If I did not believe I would have found a job I would have still been without a job and broke,” he said.
