However, Corporal Trevor Cox denied “causing harm” to Carrington Dean on March 28, Holy Thursday, when he was arraigned before Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans of Court No 6, Nassau and South Streets.

Cox, who has not been dismissed from the force, was granted $3,000 bail with two sureties and told that his trial will start on April 26.

It is claimed that Cox, on the day in question, caused unlawful harm to Dean while he was at the Grove Police Station.

The alleged incident came to light on social media when a photograph of Dean’s bruised buttocks were posted on Rodney Moncur’s Facebook.

Commissioner of Police Ellison Greenslade said that the person responsible would be charged.

The corporal, however, in front of many of his police colleagues who filled the courtroom, pleaded not guilty to the charge of “causing harm”.

There was no objection to bail by the police prosecutor as the accused has no police record.

He returns to Magistrate’s Court on April 26 when the case is expected to starT.

He is represented by Mary Charlton, an associate of Ian Cargill and Co.

He should be dismissed!!!!!! But unfortunately, after a sham trial - if there ever is one, he will most likely be freed, keep his job and go on to do it again!!!! Have faith in the police and the "system"????? NEVER!!!!!!!

bring all these abusers of power up on charges .and convict them swiftly.what are u telling the public with this blatant misuse of power . basicly you are no different than the alleged criminal that you arrest.and then they ask us (the public) for our cooperation.they can never be trusted .if they continue to operate the way they do.
