Six arrested after marijuana discovery

FREEPORT – Bahamian authorities arrested six persons after $86,000 worth of marijuana was discovered on a boat.

According to reports, at around 11.30am on Tuesday, police received information of a distressed vessel 20 miles off West End, Grand Bahama.

Inspector Terecita Pinder said officers from the Police Harbour Patrol Unit and BASRA went to the location, where they spotted a white 20ft Aqua Sport with four Bahamians and two Jamaicans on board.

She said the vessel was towed safely into port at West End.

While searching the vessel, officers discovered 47-taped packages of suspected marijuana. The drugs weighed 86 pounds.

SUDDEN DEATH

Grand Bahama Police are investigating a sudden death at Eight Mile Rock after a 79-year-old man fell off a roof on Tuesday.

Police received a report around 6.15pm that a man was making repairs to a roof along with another man when he slipped and fell.

Police and EMS personnel went to the scene at Hanna Hill, where they found the victim unresponsive.

He was examined and pronounced dead by EMS personnel.
