The tournament starts at 9am for Mini-Tennis and Short Court 60’ players, with the age groups 10s, 12s, 14s, and 16s playing at noon. BOWLING

NATIONAL BOWLING

CHAMPIONSHIP

RICHARD

‘‘Richie” Pyfrom is still the man to beat as the Cable Bahamas/Bahamas Bowling Nationals moves into its final week at Mario’s Bowling and Entertainment Center.

After two blocks, Pyfrom leads the men’s field with a 2,631 pinfall going into the final round to make the TV finals. However, with him making the round of 18, he will have to bowl an additional six-game block on Saturday, April 20 to actually make the finals set for Sunday.

Three-time national champion winner Leonardo “Lee” Davis now holds down the second spot with 2,535 and when the dust is settled, he too should be part of the TV finals.

Johann Pyfrom is in third with 2,482. He must continue to bowl if he wants to be part of the conversation.

Big Stan “DMan” Bethel is in 4th place with 2,474. This is a surprise for Bethel who is out to prove the naysayers wrong as he continues to bowl well.

Sonith Lockhart rounds out the top five with a 2,440 total pinfall after block two.

David Slatter, Ryan Davis, Kelsey Rolle, Willard Casale and Mario Brown must “find their line” early on Wednesday if they have hope of moving into the top five.

Men categories A, B & C are slated to bowl their final mandatory six-game block on Wednesday to determine who will move into the elite round of 18. Categories D & E men are scheduled to bowl a mandatory third block 6:30pm Thursday.

On the women’s side, Driskell Rolle has relinquished the lead to newcomer Xynea Johnson. Rolle stumbled in her second block and must now regroup if she has any hope of catching Johnson. After the second block, Johnson has a 2,232 total pinfall and Rolle has 2,074. The cagey veteran Marina McClain is lurking in the shadows and is right in the thick of things with a 2,054 total pinfall.

Rounding out the top five women are experienced bowlers Janice Hoyte and Angie Smith.

Ladies C & D bowlers competed Monday to complete their second blocks so there is a possibility that the leaderboard will change.

The Bowling Nationals is being held under the auspices of the Bahamas Bowling Federation, whose president is Yule Hoyte.
