MP's cousins badly hurt in car crash

TWO sisters – cousins of West Grand Bahama MP Obie Wilchcombe – were flown to Nassau yesterday with serious head injuries after their car crashed into a utility pole on the Warren Levarity Highway in Freeport.

Last night they were listed in very serious condition in the ICU at Doctor’s Hospital.

Becky, elder daughter of Pastor and Mrs Larry Wilchcombe of Grand Bahama, was driving her husband, 13-year-old sister, Larise, and two young boys to school when, according to police, she lost control of the car and crashed into a utility pole. The accident occurred at about 7:50am near Bahama Rock.

All five injured were taken to Rand Memorial Hospital, where the husband and two boys were treated. “They are okay,” said Mr Wilchcombe last night. However, the two sisters were flown to Nassau. According to the police report the vehicle was wrapped around the utility pole with one person trapped inside. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to remove her.
