'Golden Knight' officially opens dual track meet

‘GOLDEN KNIGHT’ Ramon Miller took the opportunity to officially open the dual track and field meet for Our Lady’s and St Bede’s Primary Schools.

Both schools, preparing to close their doors for good in June, combined to stage their one-day meet at the original Thomas A Robinson Track and Field Stadium.

“I think I missed out on a lot of fun that you are having,” said Miller, alluding to the fact that he never participated in his track and field meets in primary school.

“So I want to encourage all of you to keep your head up. It starts from here. Listen to your coaches, listen to teachers and go out there and have fun. This is the age that fun really matters. There is no pressure from the parents, so just have some fun and give it your best and enjoy the day.”

Miller interacted with some of the students, officials and coaches and also presented the ribbons to the winners of the first race in the meet.

Our Lady’s, coached by Rohan Parks, and St Bede’s, coached by Ricardo Freemantle, came together to put on the joint meet.
