COACHES ASSOCIATION

THE Bahamas Association of Track and Field Coaches held its election of officers during the recent Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations’ Scotiabank National High School Track and Field Championships. Curtis Pride was elected as the new president, replacing Dianne Woodside. The first vice president is Rupert Gardiner and Felix Seymour is the second vice president. Jason Edwards is the secretary general, assisted by Greg Cash. The treasurer is Shaun Miller. The board members are Peter Pratt, Fritz Grant, Wendell Collie and David Ferguson.

CHAMPION AMATEUR BOXING SHOW

THE Champion Amateur Boxing Club is getting ready to host “A Shout Out To” to honour Ernie ‘The Androsian Tiger’ Barr - former Bahamian light heavyweight champion of the Bahamas - 6pm Saturday, April 27 at the Wulff Road Boxing Square.

The main matches will be between Don Rolle vs Tyrone Oliver and Donovan Taylor vs Kendrick Stuart. There will also be 10 other matches. Awards will be presented for the best fight, most outstanding boxer and most improved boxer. All amateur boxing clubs are welcome to participate.

Following that tournament, Champion Amateur Boxing Club is slated to hold the 18th Annual Wellington ‘Sonny Boy’ Rahming Silver Glove Amateur Boxing Tournament 6pm May 11 at the Wulff Road Boxing Square.

BOXING: PRO CARD

MAJOR Promotions & Entertainment has announced that the ‘No Mercy’ professional boxing show is set for 8pm May 25 at the Kendal Isaacs Gym. The event is expected to bring professional boxing back to the local scene after a hiatus. In the main event, Meacher ‘Pain’ Major is slated to take on Anthony ‘Syco’ Woods for the Bahamas junior welterweight title. There is also expected to be six matches on the undercard, featuring a new generation of up and coming professional boxers.
