Queen Drucilla takes it all

Queen Drucilla gave owner King Eric Gibson more than enough to celebrate after taking the Acklins Regatta B Class series with 15 points, winning all three races Friday and back-to-back on Saturday.

The Barbarian II, skippered by Delworth Gibson, took second place with 12 points after three second place finishes as she simply could not figure out how to catch the sloop sponsored by Coca Cola.

Springfield, skippered by Alfred Johnson, was third with 10 points after third, fourth and third place finishes.

Hummingbird, skippered by Clifton Wells, took fourth with seven points.

The Blue Shadow, skippered by Ivan Bowe, rounded out the top five with four points.

The Barbarian I, also skippered by Delworth Gibson, took the C-Class title with 11 points after a second, followed by two first place finishes.

The Jungalist, skippered by Ivan Bowe, was second with seven points after two third place finishes followed by a second and the San Sally, skippered by Richard Ross, took third overall with six points after a first, second and third place finish respectively.

Unca Johnson, skippered by Albert Gibson, settled for fourth with four points.

The highlight of the weekend was the naming of the King Eric Regatta Park. A proud and delighted Gibson, the legendary skipper, sailor, golfer and musician, cut the ribbon to officially unveil the sign.
